Physiotherapy

Restoring freedom of movement.

Treatment suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and will be discussed following an appropriate assessment.

Physiotherapy at MW Motion begins with an individual assessment, not with the choice of a machine or technique.

Physiotherapist assessing a patient's knee

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is an individually tailored treatment process that aims to reduce pain, improve function and restore fitness and freedom of movement.

Treatment begins with a thorough assessment. Based on it, I choose methods suited to the cause of the problem, the type of symptoms and your current abilities.

From assessment to treatment plan

Each stage of the assessment gives me information that guides the choice of treatment.

01Symptom analysisYour history, how the problem developed and what makes it worse
02Orthopaedic testsSelected for the area and the suspected cause
03Range of movementAssessment of joint and tissue mobility
04Muscle strengthSide-to-side comparison and movement control
05Motor controlQuality of movement, movement patterns and everyday function

Outcome

An individual treatment plan

Tailored to the cause of the problem, the type of symptoms and your current abilities.

Manual therapy to the lower back with the patient lying on their side

Method

Manual therapy

Individually selected manual techniques used to reduce pain, improve joint mobility and restore normal function of the musculoskeletal system.

Depending on the patient's needs, treatment may include joint mobilisations of varying amplitude and speed, gentle mobilisations, traction, neural mobilisation techniques, spinal mobilisations and other techniques that help improve range of movement and reduce pain.

Method

Soft-Tissue Therapy

Techniques targeting muscles, fascia and other soft tissues to reduce excessive tension, improve flexibility and ease pain.

Depending on the problem, techniques such as Post-Isometric Relaxation (PIR) and other specialist soft-tissue techniques may be used.

Soft-tissue work on the thigh using an instrument
Therapeutic massage around the shoulder blade

Method

Therapeutic massage

Massage tailored individually to the type of problem and the patient's needs.

It may help reduce muscle tension, improve tissue mobility, ease pain and prepare the body for further rehabilitation.

Method

Therapeutic exercise

An individually designed exercise programme to improve muscle strength, stability, range of movement, motor control and function.

Exercises are adapted to the patient's condition and goals, such as returning to everyday activities, work or sport.

Therapeutic exercise with a resistance band under the physiotherapist's supervision
Kinesio taping applied to the knee
Kinesio taping applied to the lower leg

Supporting treatment

Kinesio taping

Kinesio taping is the application of elastic kinesiology tape to the skin. I use it alongside treatment so that its effect continues to support you between sessions.

The tape does not restrict movement, is thin and can be worn for several days, including in the shower. I choose the application to suit the problem, the area and the stage of treatment.

I use it, for example:

  • For swelling and bruising
  • For muscle and tendon overload
  • After sports injuries
  • In rehabilitation after injuries and surgery

I do not apply tape to irritated skin or open wounds, or if you are allergic to the tape adhesive.

How physiotherapy works

Four stages, repeated as needed, so that the plan follows your progress.

01

Home / Treatments / Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy

Acoustic wave technology in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Treatment suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and will be discussed following an appropriate assessment.

Shockwave applicator used around the knee

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy uses acoustic pressure waves delivered through a handheld applicator to a selected area.

Within physiotherapy, I use it for selected persistent tendon and soft-tissue problems, usually as part of a wider rehabilitation programme.

Tissue cross-section: the acoustic wave travels to the tendon and its attachmentApplicatorTendon attachment to boneSkinSubcutaneous tissueTendonMuscleBone

  3. 03The wave spreads through the tissues
  4. 04It acts on the tendon and its attachment
Slow-motion animation. The acoustic wave travels from the applicator into the tissues and acts mechanically on the tendon and its attachment to bone.

When may it be considered?

Find the area where you have symptoms. Below are examples of conditions where Shockwave Therapy may be considered following assessment.

01Foot & heel

  • Plantar FasciopathyOften called a heel spur; heel pain
  • Enthesopathies of the footPain where a tendon attaches to bone

02Shoulder

  • Calcific tendinopathy of the shoulderCalcium deposits in the rotator cuff tendons
  • Rotator cuff tendinopathyPain when raising the arm

03Elbow

  • Lateral EpicondylalgiaTennis elbow
  • Medial epicondylalgiaGolfer's elbow

04Hip & buttock

  • Greater trochanteric pain syndromeGluteal tendinopathy; pain on the side of the hip
  • Proximal hamstring tendinopathyPain near the sitting bone

05Knee

  • Patellar tendinopathyJumper's knee
  • Pes anserine pain syndromePain on the inner side of the knee

06Lower leg & Achilles tendon

  • Achilles TendinopathyPain and stiffness at the back of the heel
  • Medial tibial stress syndromeOften called shin splints in runners

07Muscles

  • Myofascial painPainful trigger points
  • Selected persistent tendinopathies and enthesopathiesFollowing individual assessment

Can't see your condition?

At your first appointment I will assess whether Shockwave Therapy is suitable for you.

This list is for guidance only. Whether treatment is used is decided by the physiotherapy assessment.

What happens during treatment?

Assessment
+
Identifying the area
+
Controlled acoustic waves

After the assessment, the treatment area is identified and the applicator delivers controlled acoustic waves to the selected spot.

Treatment settings are chosen according to your clinical presentation and treatment plan.

Shockwave does not replacerehabilitation.

Exercise and gradually increasing load remain the foundation of treating tendon problems.

Contraindications to Shockwave Therapy

Contraindications

  • ×Pregnancy
  • ×Active cancer or a tumour in the treatment area
  • ×Active infection or bone infection (osteomyelitis) at the treatment site
  • ×Recent or unstable tissue damage
  • ×Clotting disorders or a severe bleeding tendency
  • ×Active thrombosis
  • ×Recent steroid injection in the treatment area
  • ×Acute tendon rupture or serious ligament injury
  • ×Growth plates

Require caution or individual assessment

  • !Anticoagulant medicationindividual risk assessment
  • !Areas over the lungs and other air-filled structuresaccording to the type of wave and the manufacturer's guidance
  • !Brain, spinal cord and major nervesparticularly with high-energy treatment
  • !Pacemaker or implanted electronic devicesdevice safety must be assessed
  • !Recent fracture or incomplete healingindividual assessment
  • !Previous tendon rupturetreatment only once adequately healed

Before every treatment there is a short check of contraindications, your current health, medication, any implants and the condition of your skin and tissues. If there is any doubt, treatment may be postponed or medical advice may be needed.

Will I still need to do exercises?

Usually, yes. When I use Shockwave Therapy, it is normally combined with a rehabilitation programme agreed with you.

What does the treatment feel like?

You will feel rhythmic tapping and pulsing in the treated area and hear the applicator's characteristic tapping sound. Over the painful area the treatment can feel uncomfortable, so I adjust the intensity to your tolerance and check how you feel throughout. Afterwards there may be some tenderness or skin redness for a short time.

Home / Treatments / TECAR

TECAR Therapy

Capacitive and resistive radiofrequency

Treatment suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and will be discussed following an appropriate assessment.

TECAR electrodes around the foot and ankle

What is TECAR?

TECAR Therapy uses capacitive and resistive transfer of radiofrequency energy. This energy generates endogenous heat, meaning heat produced within the tissues rather than applied from outside.

Endogenous heat raises tissue temperature and local blood flow, and with them oxygen delivery and metabolism in muscles, joints, tendons and fascia. I use TECAR within physiotherapy and rehabilitation depending on your clinical presentation and treatment plan.

Two modes: CET and RET

Select a mode to see which tissues it targets.

Capacitive mode (CET)

Energy is directed at tissues with a high water content, such as muscle, the lymphatic system, the venous system and the skin.

  • Muscles
  • Lymphatic system
  • Venous system
  • Skin

Together, CET and RET allow energy to be delivered precisely, from the superficial layers to the deeper tissues.

Three levels of action

Treatment intensity is matched to the stage and goal of treatment.

No thermal effect

Biostimulation

Supports cell metabolism and nutrition, and the microcirculation of fluids.

Moderate thermal effect

Vascularisation

Widens blood vessels and improves tissue oxygenation.

High thermal effect

Hyperactivation

A strong heating effect increases blood flow and the extensibility of collagen tissues such as tendons, ligaments and joint capsules.

When can TECAR be used?

Find the area your problem relates to. Whether TECAR is used depends on the assessment findings.

01Shoulder

  • Adhesive capsulitisFrozen shoulder
  • Rotator cuff problems

02Spine

  • Non-specific low back pain
  • Neck-related musculoskeletal problems

03Muscles & sports injuries

  • Acute muscle injuryStrains and bruises
  • Hamstring injury
  • Adductor-related groin pain

04Tendons & ligaments

07Swelling & circulation

  • Lower-limb swelling
  • Heavy legs

Can't see your condition?

At your first appointment I will assess whether TECAR is suitable for you.

TECAR in sports rehabilitation

I use TECAR in the rehabilitation of selected sports-related musculoskeletal problems.

I decide its role after the assessment, depending on the type and stage of the injury.

  • Hamstring injury
  • Adductor-related groin pain
  • Muscle strain
  • Soft-tissue injury
  • Overuse problems
  • Return to activity after injury

  • ×Active bleeding
  • ×Open wounds and damaged skin at the treatment site
  • ×Active infection or skin inflammation at the treatment site
  • ×Significant sensory impairment in the treatment area
  • ×Uncontrolled ischaemic heart disease

Require caution or individual assessment

  • !Metal joint replacements and implantsespecially in the treatment area, following the device manufacturer's instructions
  • !Serious circulatory diseasecaution

Before every treatment there is a short check of contraindications, your current health, medication, any implants and the condition of your skin and tissues. If there is any doubt, treatment may be postponed or medical advice may be needed.

What does the treatment feel like?

Depending on the level used, anything from no sensation of heat to a noticeable, pleasant warmth deep in the tissues. The physiotherapist checks how you feel throughout. If anything feels uncomfortable, say so straight away.

Home / Treatments / HILT

High Intensity Laser Therapy

Laser energy that reaches deeper tissues.

Treatment suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and will be discussed following an appropriate assessment.

Laser handpiece applied to the shoulder

What is HILT?

HILT (High-Intensity Laser Therapy) is a modern physical therapy method used mainly to treat pain and to support the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions.

Unlike conventional low-level laser therapy, HILT uses much higher laser power, so the energy reaches deeper tissues.

In physiotherapy, Nd:YAG lasers with a wavelength of 1064 nm are among those used, allowing treatment of structures lying deeper beneath the skin.

Tissue cross-section: reach of low-level laser and HILTLow-level laserHILTEpidermisDermisSubcutaneous tissueFasciaMuscleBone
Low-level laser: energy absorbed mainly in the skin.HILT: energy reaches muscles and deeper structures.

When may HILT be considered?

Find the area your problem relates to. Whether HILT is used depends on the assessment.

01Shoulder

  • Adhesive capsulitisFrozen shoulder
  • Painful shoulder syndromeRotator cuff problems

02Knee & joints

  • Knee osteoarthritis
  • Osteoarthritis of other jointsFollowing individual assessment

03Spine

  • Non-specific low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Low back pain radiating into the legFollowing physiotherapy assessment

04Elbow, wrist & hand

  • Lateral EpicondylalgiaTennis elbow
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

05Foot & tendons

  • Plantar FasciopathyHeel pain
  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Selected tendinopathies

06Muscles & fascia

  • Myofascial pain
  • Muscle injuries and bruisingOnce the acute phase has settled

07Sport

  • Ankle sprain
  • Tendon and muscle overload in active people

Can't see your condition?

At your first appointment I will assess whether HILT could be part of your treatment.

HILT in sports rehabilitation

High Intensity Laser Therapy is one element of a wider sports rehabilitation programme where clinically appropriate.

Assessment, exercise progression and a return-to-activity plan remain the foundation of rehabilitation.

Contraindications to HILT

Contraindications

  • ×Active cancer or a tumour in the treatment area
  • ×Pregnancy: avoid treating the abdomen and pelvis
  • ×Direct exposure of the eyes to the laser
  • ×Active bleeding or a recent haematoma at the treatment site
  • ×Active infection in the treatment area
  • ×Acute skin damage, open wounds or severe skin conditions

Require caution or individual assessment

  • !Significant sensory impairmentrequires careful dose control
  • !Area over the gonadsonly with appropriate indication and protection
  • !Children and growth platesparticular caution
  • !Every treatmentonly in line with the device manufacturer's instructions

Metal orthopaedic implants such as screws, plates or joint replacements are not automatically a contraindication to HILT, because the laser does not use an electromagnetic field in the way TECAR does.

During laser treatment, both the patient and the physiotherapist wear appropriate protective eyewear.

Before every treatment there is a short check of contraindications, your current health, medication, any implants and the condition of your skin and tissues. If there is any doubt, treatment may be postponed or medical advice may be needed.

What does the treatment feel like?

Most people feel a pleasant warmth in the treated area. The laser head is moved over the skin and I control the intensity so the warmth stays comfortable. You wear protective glasses during treatment. If it feels too hot, say so straight away.

Home / Treatments / Compression Therapy

Pneumatic Compression

Combined with manual lymphatic drainage where appropriate

Treatment suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and will be discussed following an appropriate assessment.

Pneumatic compression garments on both legs

What is pneumatic compression?

Pneumatic compression uses special garments with several air chambers that inflate and deflate in a controlled sequence around the legs.

This provides intermittent external pressure during the treatment.

Chamber 1 · Foot · inflating

Technology and hands-on treatment

Pneumatic Compression
+
Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Where appropriate, pneumatic compression can be combined with gentle manual lymphatic drainage techniques in the same session.

When may it be considered

I always assess swelling first. New, one-sided or painful swelling may need medical advice before treatment.

  • Selected lower-limb swelling
  • Lymphatic swelling
  • Support for lymphoedema, where appropriate
  • Support for swelling associated with lipoedema
  • Heavy or tired legs
  • Recovery after exercise

Contraindications to pneumatic compression

Contraindications

  • ×Active skin infection, e.g. cellulitis or erysipelas
  • ×Open wounds, ulcers or active lymph leakage
  • ×Severe peripheral neuropathy or significant sensory impairment
  • ×Significant limb deformity preventing correct fitting of the garment

Require caution or individual assessment

  • !Recent skin grafts or very fragile skinindividual assessment
  • !Active cancer in the treatment arearequires specialist advice
  • !Severe or unexplained limb painrequires investigation before treatment

Before every treatment there is a short check of contraindications, your current health, medication, any implants and the condition of your skin and tissues. If there is any doubt, treatment may be postponed or medical advice may be needed.

What does the treatment feel like?

The garments on your legs inflate one chamber at a time, squeezing the limb from the foot upwards, and then deflate. You feel a rhythmic, even pressure that is usually pleasant and relaxing. I set the pressure to your comfort.

Manual therapy

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle manual therapy technique. Slow, rhythmic movements with very light pressure, directed towards the lymph nodes, help lymph drain from the tissues.

I use it on its own or combined with pneumatic compression in one session. The treatment is calm and should not be painful.

Indications

Before treatment I assess the cause of the swelling.

  • LymphoedemaAs part of decongestive therapy
  • Post-traumatic swellingE.g. after sprains and bruising, once the acute phase has passed
  • Post-operative swellingAfter orthopaedic and cosmetic procedures, with your doctor's approval
  • Swelling associated with lipoedema
  • Heavy or tired legs
  • Fluid retention in the legs

Contraindications to lymphatic drainage

Contraindications

  • ×Acute infections and inflammation, e.g. erysipelas or cellulitis
  • ×Fever
  • ×Deep vein thrombosis or suspected thrombosis
  • ×Acute phlebitis
  • ×Uncontrolled heart failure
  • ×Acute kidney failure

Require caution or individual assessment

  • !Cancer, active or under treatmentmedical advice required

  • !Overactive thyroidcaution when treating the neck
  • !Asthmacaution when treating the chest
  • !Low blood pressurecaution

Before every treatment there is a short check of contraindications, your current health, medication, any implants and the condition of your skin and tissues. If there is any doubt, treatment may be postponed or medical advice may be needed.

Home / Treatments / Massage

Massage

One service, tailored to you.

Treatment suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and will be discussed following an appropriate assessment.

Massage of the shoulder and shoulder-blade area

I tailor massage to the person, the area being treated and the aim of the session.

Massage can be booked on its own or included in a wider physiotherapy plan where appropriate.

How massage affects the body

Massage is a form of manual therapy. By working mechanically on the skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscles and fascia, it affects the musculoskeletal, nervous and circulatory systems.

Nervous system

Massage reduces the perception of pain and lowers nervous tension. It has a relaxing effect, helps ease feelings of stress and tension and improves wellbeing, while also supporting recovery after exercise.

Muscles & soft tissue

It reduces muscle tension and stiffness and improves tissue flexibility and range of movement, making movement more comfortable.

Circulation

It increases local blood flow and metabolic exchange in the tissues and supports venous return and lymph flow, easing heaviness in the limbs.

Pain & overload

It influences pain mechanisms and provides short-term relief from symptoms and tissue tension caused by overload, improving comfort after exercise.

Relaxation & recovery

It reduces physical and mental tension and brings a sense of calm. It improves comfort after stress and exertion, supporting the body's recovery.

Contraindications to massage

Massage is safe for most people, but in some situations it needs to be postponed, adapted or discussed with a doctor first. That is why I ask about your health, medication and any recent injuries before a massage.

Contraindications

  • ×Recent thrombosis (DVT)
  • ×Active bleeding or clotting disorders
  • ×Acute infections and fever
  • ×Acute inflammation in the treatment area
  • ×Open wounds, ulcers and damaged skin
  • ×Recent injuries, fractures and acute muscle damage
  • ×Recent haematoma
  • ×Severe peripheral vascular disease
  • ×Acute phlebitis
  • ×Uncontrolled circulatory disease
  • ×Direct massage over a recent surgical site
  • ×Direct massage over active infection or skin lesions

Require caution or individual assessment

  • !Cancer: active, or suspected recurrence or spreadmedical advice required before massage. A previous cancer after completed treatment is not automatically a contraindication, but requires individual assessment
  • !Pregnancyrequires individual assessment and an adapted massage
  • !Severe sensory impairmentparticular caution required

Before every treatment there is a short check of contraindications, your current health, medication, any implants and the condition of your skin and tissues. If there is any doubt, treatment may be postponed or medical advice may be needed.

Good to know

Can massage be part of physiotherapy?

Yes. If it fits your plan, massage can be combined with exercise rehabilitation and other methods during a physiotherapy session.

Who is massage suitable for?

When booking, please mention any medical conditions, recent injuries or pregnancy so the session can be adapted or advice given.

Home / Beauty

Beauty & subcutaneous tissue

Swelling, lipoedema, scars and recovery after procedures.

Treatment suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and will be discussed following an appropriate assessment.

I combine physiotherapy with treatment technologies to work on subcutaneous tissue, swelling and scars. Every treatment is preceded by a suitability assessment.

Combined sessions give the best results

When working on subcutaneous tissue, swelling and scars, I combine technology with manual therapy in a single session. Each method addresses a different part of the problem: circulation, lymph drainage, skin elasticity or tissue structure.

Lipodystrophy is a disorder of the structure and distribution of subcutaneous fat tissue.

Fluid retention in the legs

Heavy legs & swelling

A feeling of heaviness, tightness and swelling, often worse in the evening or after long periods of standing or sitting.

Suggested combination

Pneumatic compression+Manual drainage+TECAR

Pneumatic compression and manual drainage move fluid towards the lymph nodes and reduce swelling. TECAR increases local blood flow.

Support for swelling and symptoms

Lipoedema

A chronic condition of the fat tissue in the limbs, often accompanied by swelling, pain and a feeling of heaviness.

Suggested combination

Manual drainage+Pneumatic compression

Drainage and compression ease the swelling and heaviness that accompany lipoedema. They do not change the fat tissue itself, so treatment is part of a wider management plan.

After surgery, injury or burns

Scars

Hard, tight or adherent scars that restrict the mobility of the skin and the tissues beneath.

Suggested combination

Shockwave Therapy+Manual scar therapy+TECAR

In randomised trials, shockwave therapy improved the elasticity and reduced the thickness of hypertrophic scars. I only work on fully healed scars.

Swelling and fibrosis of the subcutaneous tissue

After cosmetic surgery

After liposuction or a tummy tuck, when swelling, hardening or unevenness persists.

Suggested combination

Manual drainage+Pneumatic compression+TECAR

I start treatment with your surgeon's approval and adapt it to the stage of healing. TECAR is introduced at a later stage.

For active people

Post-exercise recovery

Tired, heavy legs after intense training, competition or a long walk.

Suggested combination

Pneumatic compression+Massage

Pneumatic compression after exercise reduces perceived muscle soreness and leg fatigue, and massage lowers muscle tension.

I decide the combination of methods and the number of sessions individually for each person after a suitability assessment.

Home / Sport & Rehabilitation

Sports Rehabilitation

For active people, recreational athletes and competitive sport.

Treatment suitability and outcomes vary between individuals and will be discussed following an appropriate assessment.

Rehabilitation tailored to your sport

Whether you run at weekends or compete regularly, rehabilitation starts with understanding the injury, the demands of your sport and what you want to get back to.

From there, I plan and regularly review a progressive programme, and I add treatment technologies when they support that plan.

Founder and physiotherapist

Hi, I'm Mateusz

15+years of clinical experience
HCPCPH126647
MCSP117188

I am the founder and physiotherapist of MW Motion Physiotherapy.

I hold a master's degree in physiotherapy, am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP). I have over 15 years of clinical experience.

I have a particular interest in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal physiotherapy and sports injuries.

Sport has always been an important part of my life, so I understand how frustrating it can be when pain or injury stops you from training, playing sport or simply doing the things you enjoy.

Philosophy

Everyone comes with a different story, different goals and a different life they want to get back to. Treatment should reflect that.

That's why I always start with an assessment. Technology is valuable when it fits the plan, while physiotherapy, exercise and clear advice stay at the heart of care throughout.

[PHILOSOPHY: optional short paragraph in the physiotherapist's own words.]

The website may use cookies and similar technologies.

Strictly necessary cookies may be required for security or essential website functionality.

Analytics, advertising, marketing or other non-essential technologies will only operate where legally permitted and, where consent is required, after you have actively provided consent.

  • adult clinical records: normally eight years after treatment ends;
  • children: normally until the 25th birthday, or 26th birthday if treatment ended when aged 17;
  • financial/accounting records: normally six years where required.

Longer retention may apply where necessary because of ongoing treatment, complaints, safeguarding, insurance, legal claims or another lawful reason.

14. Security

Appropriate security measures may include:

  • password protection;
  • access controls;
  • strong authentication;
  • secure devices;
  • encryption where appropriate;

Home / Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

MW Motion Physiotherapy · Last updated: September 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to physiotherapy and related services provided by Mateusz Wdowik, trading as MW Motion Physiotherapy.

By booking an appointment, you confirm that you have had the opportunity to read these Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Notice.

1. Independent service

MW Motion Physiotherapy is a separate and independent private physiotherapy service provided by Mateusz Wdowik. Appointments may take place at Thistlemoor Medical Centre, but the physiotherapy service:

  • is not part of the GP practice;
  • is not an NHS service; and
  • is not provided, managed, supervised or clinically governed by Thistlemoor Medical Centre.

2. Professional status

Services are provided by:

Mateusz WdowikHCPC Registered PhysiotherapistRegistration number: PH126647MCSP

I practise within my professional competence and scope of practice.

3. Appointments and suitability

Information supplied when booking may be used for basic triage.

A booking is not a diagnosis and does not guarantee that physiotherapy or a specific treatment is appropriate.

I may decline, postpone, pause or stop treatment where:

  • treatment is outside my scope or competence;
  • treatment is unsafe;
  • treatment is not clinically indicated;
  • medical assessment or investigation is required;
  • treatment is not producing appropriate benefit; or
  • safe professional care cannot reasonably continue.

Where appropriate, referral or medical assessment may be recommended.

5. Clinical independence and outcomes

Clinical decisions are based on professional judgement and individual patient circumstances.

Recommendations remain independent of insurers, solicitors, employers, referrers, case managers and other payers.

No particular result, cure, recovery period or number of treatment sessions is guaranteed.

6. Patient responsibilities

Patients should:

  • provide accurate health information;
  • disclose relevant conditions, medication and allergies;
  • report important health or symptom changes;
  • disclose relevant investigations or medical advice;
  • follow agreed safety advice;
  • attend appointments on time; and
  • behave respectfully.

7. Emergencies

MW Motion Physiotherapy does not provide an emergency service. For a medical emergency call 999. For urgent medical advice that is not an emergency, contact NHS 111, your GP or another appropriate healthcare service.

Do not use routine email, contact forms or online booking for emergencies.

8. Fees and payment

The current fee and appointment length will be communicated before booking.

Payment is due at booking or immediately after the appointment unless agreed otherwise.

Available payment methods may include:

  • card;
  • cash; or
  • secure payment link.

Full card information is not retained by MW Motion Physiotherapy.

Additional reports, letters, forms, travel or other non-treatment work may carry a separate fee agreed in advance.

9. Cancellation

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or rearrange an appointment. Appointments cancelled with at least 24 hours' notice will not normally attract a fee.

Late cancellation or failure to attend may result in a cancellation charge where this was clearly explained before booking. Any charge must be fair and proportionate.

Genuine emergencies, sudden illness, exceptional circumstances and relevant accessibility or communication barriers will be considered fairly. A cancellation charge may be reduced or waived where appropriate.

10. Late arrival

Late arrival may result in a shorter appointment to avoid delaying other patients.

If a safe assessment or treatment cannot be completed within the remaining time, the appointment may need to be rearranged.

The appointment fee may still apply where the allocated clinical time was reserved.

11. Repeated missed appointments

Repeated non-attendance or late cancellation may result in treatment being discontinued or future appointments being declined.

Relevant clinical risk, disability, communication requirements and individual circumstances will be considered.

12. Refunds

If MW Motion Physiotherapy cancels a prepaid appointment and cannot provide a suitable alternative, the fee will be refunded.

Duplicate or incorrect payments will be refunded after verification.

A completed clinical appointment is not automatically refundable solely because the patient did not achieve the hoped-for clinical outcome.

Concerns about quality or safety will be investigated through the complaints process.

Unused prepaid packages will be considered fairly, taking account of treatment already supplied and terms disclosed before purchase.

Approved refunds will normally be made to the original payment method.

13. Third-party funded treatment

Treatment may be funded by an insurer, solicitor, employer, case manager or another third party. Authorisation should identify where relevant:

  • payer;
  • services authorised;
  • session number;
  • rates;
  • reporting requirements; and
  • invoicing arrangements.

Third-party authorisation is not necessarily a guarantee of payment.

Where funding ends or is disputed, non-urgent further care may be paused until a new arrangement is agreed.

Patients will not normally be made retrospectively liable unless they accepted that responsibility in advance or materially inaccurate information resulted in the funding failure.

14. Unpaid fees

Reasonable payment reminders may be sent.

Patients will have an opportunity to query disputed invoices.

Treatment may be paused for unpaid fees where clinically safe.

Sensitive clinical information will only be shared with debt-recovery providers where necessary, lawful and transparent.

15. Privacy and clinical records

Confidential clinical and business records are maintained in accordance with professional and legal requirements. See the Privacy Notice.

Data Controller: Mateusz Wdowik trading as MW Motion Physiotherapy

ICO Registration: ZC238199

16. Communication

Appointment reminders and administrative communications relating to care are service communications and are not marketing.

Email and SMS carry inherent security risks. A more secure communication method may be used for sensitive information.

17. Children and young people

Children and young people will only be treated where:

  • treatment is within professional competence;
  • appropriate safeguarding arrangements exist; and
  • professional insurance permits the treatment.

Consent, capacity and parental responsibility will be considered individually.

18. Chaperones

A chaperone may be offered or requested.

A relative or friend may provide support but is not automatically considered a formal chaperone.

Patient wishes, clinical safety and confidentiality will be considered.

19. Complaints

Patients will not receive poorer treatment or be disadvantaged because they have raised a concern or complaint.

Complaints can be made verbally or in writing to:

Mateusz Wdowik

MW Motion Physiotherapy

6–10 Thistlemoor Road, Peterborough, PE1 3HP

Email: wdowikmateusz@gmail.com

Reasonable support will be provided where disability, language or communication needs affect the complaints process.

A representative may complain on behalf of a patient with appropriate authority.

20. Complaints process

I will aim to:

  1. address immediate safety concerns;
  2. listen and record the complaint;
  3. acknowledge it normally within three working days;
  4. clarify the issues;
  5. investigate objectively;
  6. review relevant records;
  7. request further information where appropriate; and
  8. provide a helpful and honest written response normally within 20 working days.

If more time is required, the reason and an updated response date will be provided.

21. Where something has gone wrong

Where appropriate I will:

  • explain what happened;
  • explain the likely impact;
  • apologise;
  • take corrective action;
  • identify learning; and
  • make appropriate improvements.

Possible outcomes may include:

  • explanation;
  • apology;
  • correction of records;
  • clinical review;
  • referral;
  • refund or billing correction; or
  • policy, process or equipment changes.

22. Further complaints options

Depending on the concern, patients may contact:

  • HCPC for serious concerns about professional fitness to practise;
  • ICO for data-protection concerns;
  • Citizens Advice;
  • an insurer, solicitor or case manager;
  • an appropriate ADR service; or
  • independent legal advice.

The HCPC is a professional regulator and not a general refund/customer-service appeal service.

Thistlemoor Medical Centre is not the complaints body for MW Motion Physiotherapy. Premises-related issues may be passed to the medical centre where appropriate and lawful.

23. Ending treatment

Treatment may be declined, paused or stopped where:

  • clinically inappropriate;
  • unsafe;
  • outside professional scope;
  • medical investigation is required;
  • appropriate benefit is not being achieved;
  • professional boundaries cannot be maintained;
  • threatening or abusive behaviour occurs; or
  • another issue makes safe treatment inappropriate.

Where appropriate, alternative healthcare options may be discussed.

24. Liability and consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where this would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Services will be provided with reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these Terms affects statutory consumer rights.

25. Changes

Terms may be updated to reflect changes in:

  • services;
  • professional guidance;
  • technology; or
  • legal requirements.

Material changes affecting ongoing care will be communicated where appropriate.

26. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

CLAIM BACK YOUR PHYSIOTHERAPY COSTS

Does your employer offer a Health Cash Plan?

Many UK employers offer their staff additional health benefits, such as a Health Cash Plan or Healthcare Cash Plan.

Under such a scheme, employees may be able to claim back some or all of the cost of private physiotherapy, up to the annual limit set out in their plan.

How does it work?

The process is simple:

  1. 1

    Book an appointment at my clinic.

  2. 2

    Pay for the appointment according to the current price list.

  3. 3

    After the appointment, you will receive a receipt / invoice confirming that the physiotherapy service was provided and paid for.

  4. 4

    Send the receipt to your Health Cash Plan provider.

  5. 5

    If your policy covers physiotherapy, you may receive a refund in line with the terms of your individual plan.

Example

If an appointment costs £50 and your Health Cash Plan covers physiotherapy up to a set limit, you may be able to claim back part or all of the cost.

The amount refunded depends on your individual plan.

Popular Health Cash Plan providers in the UK

Companies offering this type of scheme include:

Some large UK employers, including those in retail, logistics, manufacturing, services and technology, offer Health Cash Plans as part of their employee benefits package.

Important

You don't need private medical insurance to use this option. A Health Cash Plan is usually a separate employee benefit and may cover physiotherapy.

Before booking, check the terms of your plan, as the benefits covered, refund amounts, annual limits and requirements regarding the physiotherapist's qualifications may differ between plans.

I provide receipts / invoices that you can use to claim back your physiotherapy costs.

Not sure whether your plan covers physiotherapy?

Check the name of your Health Cash Plan or contact your employer's HR department.
